Overtime Elite Topps Now, Is This The future?

    While scrolling the Topps website I ran across an interesting sports card line. The name it is Overtime Elite in the Topps Now section. The product features an interesting concept of focusing on the basketball cards that feature athletes as young as 16 years of age. Overtime Elite is a league that focuses on players who are not eligible to play for a college but wants to play professionally. This league allows high school players to earn at least $100,000 per year.

    Overtime Elite is a part of Overtime which is a sports media company that distributes original sports content on social media outlets, including Snapchat, YouTube and Facebook. It's investors include Jeff Bezos and popular entertainer Drake.

  The league Overtime Elite also has backing from NBA players such as Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, the late David Stern (former NBA commissioner), and players from National Players Association.

  As things begin to change in favor of athletes being able to capitalize off their image and likeness, this is something to keep an eye on. Players such a Lamelo Ball have found ways to bypass college and take the league by storm. Trough leagues such as OTE and G League I am sure there are more to come. So do some research on the players and maybe you will feel they are worth collecting.
